A pepeha is how you introduce yourself in Te Reo.

Follow simple instructions to create your own online pepeha while critically exploring your own heritage and whakapapa. Mihi Maker empowers and challenges you explore cultural contexts through a transformative approach to learning.

#3 Aotearoa 1840

Aotearoa 1840 is an immersive opportunity to explore the timeline of New Zealand’s complicated history.

Using the principles of game design, users explore open ended historical concepts and craft an interactive experience to tell the real history of New Zealand from multiple points of view, underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

#4 Squid Adventures

Explore the undersea world through the eyes of a squid. As our planet continues to change and our climate shifts, users have the opportunity to see our oceans in a new light.

Squid Adventures transforms the way we think about problem solving and moves learners away from more traditional outcomes associated with students presenting back their information e.g. powerpoints and posters.

#5 Museum Maker

Museums have a process for developing an exhibition and Museum Maker lets you explore that process and learn to think like an exhibition designer!

Museum Maker was made in partner ship with Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.

Intermediate / Advanced Game Dev Projects

These projects take you through developing games using an industry design and development process. You will code your own game and publish it as a digital outcome.

Each of these activities weave together Computational Thinking, and Designing and developing digital outcomes (DDDO) Progress Outcomes 4.

Open Game Dev Projects

Code your own 2D Platformer game

Immerse yourself making an interactive, story based game, designed by students, for students.

Tell stories, create new endings, critically examine one another’s learning outcomes and communicate deeper messages far and wide. Platformer does it all and more.

Code your own Top-Down RPG game

Students are invited to explore traditional indigenous stories, their place in the world and their own whakapapa (ancestry), creating and retelling their experiences through the medium of games.

As we look to strengthen wider understanding of New Zealand history and worldview, this empowers students of all ages to learn, create and share in a culturally responsive and capable way.

Code your own interactive fiction game and learn to think and be a narrative designer!

You can write a story about anything! But we challenge you to write an interactive story based on your own local legends, stories and histories!
